  1. I’m 7 months post-op (patellar tendon autograft) and jogging along when suddenly my knee buckles and every additional step I feel joint instability. The days following my knee continues to buckle and I have a sharp pain in my shin. My Ortho says the ACL seems intact but I may have torn my meniscus or scar tissue may be impeding the joint. The Ortho gave me a shot of cortisone to reduce the swelling and told me to come back in 2 weeks for a closer look. Does this seem like an appropriate response by my Ortho?

  2. This seems consistent to treatment I have received before. The cortisone will hide the pain fairly well, so wait to see if the pain comes back after a few weeks when it has worn off. You may want to keep your knee compressed as if treating a sprain for support and to keep swelling down.
