  1. Hi everyone,

I am eagerly awaiting some inputs as I am quite nervous. I hurt my ACL a few months ago and undergo ACL reconstruction on 14 th December, 2009. 2-3 days after the surgery, I came home and while I was in the bahroom I slipped a bit. I immediately held on to something and stopped the fall. My knee straightened a bit but did not bend/twist etc. There was no pain. I have continued physiotherapy and haven't had any problems. Even at the time of that supposedly minor slip there was no pain even seconds after the incident. My physio did not seem to be concerned if my leg did not bend but I am scared more than anything else.

Could you guys tell me that if I were to damage my reconstructed ACL or the graft in the manner above will I not experience some symptom? And in the absence of the same, can I assume that in all the probability I am fine?

    Thanks. :)

  2. I had a similar slip after my ACL surgery. I wasn't wearing my brace and my knee buckled. I think I felt more shock than anything else. I told my PT about it and he wasn't very worried either. Remember that your doctor put you through a series of tests after the surgery to test the strength of your graft while you were still asleep. If you experienced extra swelling or bruising, I would be concerned, but it sounds like your graft held. Your surgeon will check the graft every time you see him and he will be able to tell you if something doesn't feel right. I wouldn't worry.
