  1. I just had ACL surgery 9 day's ago. My range of motion is pretty good at 105 degrees flexion and can almost achieve full extension. I can now walk without crutches but in the knee brace. The only concern I have is pain on the inner (medial) side of the knee, just next to and above the lower incision used for the drill tools, etc. It only happens when I try to manually flex the knee (when doing heel slides, Hamstring curls, etc)and hurts severly. However I have no pain when doing passive motion exercises, only when I have to manually bend the knee. Is pain in this area normal and how long should / will it last.

    Thanks.

  2. Pain at 9 days post op on a surgically repaired knee is quite normal and expected. However, your doctor is the best person to ask when it comes to what is normal or not.

When in doubt, always refer to the guy (or girl) who was behind the knife ;-)

  3. I'm 10 days postop with a cadaver allograft, so my doc is going really slowly taking me off of the crutches and the immobilizer. I got to 100% extension and 115-120% flexation by my 7 day post op PT visit, and now I have to just sit tight and wait for allograft to basically catch up to what I've achieved and to finish healing. So my doc is keeping me in an immobilizer for 2 more weeks (even though I am walking--with crutches--and standing unaided without any problem). I do lots of exercises, but he's discouraging me from pushing any further than I've already done, in terms of lifting and bending. Probi, were you walking at this point with a knee immobilizer or the kind of knee brace that we'll need for the next year of so during sports?
