Thinking forward

This past weekend had some truly gorgeous points in Seattle. Sunday in particular was just a fantastically beautiful fall day, the kind of day that makes sitting idly with a bum knee truly painful. A perfect day for a long bike ride, a hike in the newly frosted mountains or a sail in brisk winds on Puget Sound.

Instead I spent it walking around various retail outlets. On the one hand we now have pretty new curtains, new uv filters on the cameras and some comfortable clothes for a bed-ridden holiday weekend. On the other hand i spent $500 on crap i didn’t need, and missed a weekend playing in the natural bounty that is the pacific northwest.

I have just one more day of this horrible limbo that exists while your body has made some progress naturally repairing itself, but just before you’re sliced and diced out of mobility.

To be sure there will be long bike rides and walks in the hills on the other side, now is the time to focus on recovery.
